  • This Is Why You Should Never Drink Water With Ice

Never order water with ice when eating out somewhere. There are reasons why iced water should not be drunk.

Just think what will happen to your body and skin if you dive in a mountain lake whose top ice layer has just defrosted. Even if the temperature outside is pleasant, you know that the lake is still extremely cold.

The pores on your skin open and the skin becomes loose in a contact with warm water. On the other side, if your skin gets in touch with cold water the pores close and the skin constricts. Iced water does the same to the digestive system.

     Consequences of drinking cold water

    • Iced water shrinks the blood vessels in the digestive tract. The digestive system becomes restricted and there is no hydration.
    • Your body spends energy to regulate the temperature after you drink cold water, so the digestive tract has no energy to digest the food and absorb the nutrients. Water loss also happens.
    • Excess mucus is created inside of the body when drinking iced water after eating. This affects the proper function of the immune system and the chances of catching a cold or some other illness increase.
    • Drinking cold water and other beverages while eating or after eating can make you fat. The body has no ability to digest the unnecessary fats so they remain in the body.

Even though some people believe that cold water promotes the function of the digestive tract and it can burn more calories, this is not true. Our digestive system should work as easy as possible. We should not overload it with work.

    Warm water benefits

Here are the benefits of drinking room temperature water or even warmer water:

    • Faster hydration
    • Digestion enhancement since there is a stimulation of the digestive enzymes
    • Easier food break down
    • Improved movement through the bowels (drink a mix of warm water and lemon in the morning)
    • Purification of the blood
    • Improvement of the natural detoxification through the lymphatic system, skin and kidneys
You will notice the benefits of drinking warm water when you get used to it. Even the sugar cravings may disappear.

  • Guus Hiddink: Chelsea appoint interim manager until end of season

Former Netherlands boss Guus Hiddink has been appointed interim Chelsea manager until the end of the season following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.
The 69-year-old also managed the Blues on a temporary basis for the final three months of the 2008-09 campaign. "I am excited to return," said the Dutchman. "Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in the world but is not where it should be at the moment.

"However, I am sure we can all turn this season around."

Mourinho was sacked on Thursday with champions Chelsea 16th in the Premier League table, one point above the relegation zone. Hiddink will watch Saturday's visit of Sunderland from the stands, sat near to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, with coaches Steve Holland and Eddie Newton in charge of the team.

"It's a fantastic appointment. I'm very happy about it. This club needs an experienced manager at the helm and Guus Hiddink is clearly that," said Holland.

  • 9 Daily Habits of the most confident people

We know if you walk with better posture, force a fake smile, or get a new haircut you can trick your brain and boost your self-confidence. Perhaps for 20 minutes you’ll think you’re the next Richard Branson.

There are proven ways to improve your self-confidence that will drive real, long lasting change in your life.

    1. Meditate

When we feel insecure, it manifests itself in myriad ways. Our bodies don’t work. We can’t focus. Insecurity creeps in when we’re not living in the present moment.

Taking control of our monkey brain is a profound step toward true self-confidence. I recommend you try the Headspace app. You can select five minute, 10 minute, and 20 minute simple guided meditations.

    2. Think inside the box

Having the freedom to make choices with your time might be one of the main reasons you decided to become an entrepreneur.

But too many options can be your downfall.

We speak in platitudes that we think carry weight–like “think outside the box.” There is a freeing joy in thinking inside the box. Executing on what you know, focusing, and moving the needle are empowering.

    3. Learn something new every day

The average audio book is 10 hours. If you commute 60 minutes a day, you can listen to about 24 books a year.

That’s a life changing habit. The more knowledge you have, the greater your confidence will be. Simple. Check out Audible for some choices.

    4. Teach

If you’re an expert in your field, sharing your knowledge will add to your fulfillment as a human being. Feeling fulfilled will add to your confidence.

If public speaking terrifies you, consider posting content on platforms like LinkedIn or Medium. Or you can create an online course on Teachable.com.

    5. Exercise

Instead of buying expensive clothes, you can workout. Clothes will fit better. Instead of trying to walk with your shoulders back, exercise. Your core muscle strength will enhance your posture and gait.

Instead of buying skin products, exercise and hydrate. Your skin will look better. Instead of forcing that fake smile to make you feel happier–exercise. The Mayo Clinic says, “You may also feel better about your appearance and yourself when you exercise regularly, which can boost your confidence and improve your self-esteem.”

    6. Get more sleep

If you have trouble sleeping, try the Sleep Cycle app. Getting enough sleep helps your brain and body. The Harvard Mental Health Letter states: “The deepest stage of quiet sleep produces physiological changes that help boost immune system functioning.”

Sleep Cycle helps you see when you fall into the deepest, most healing stages of sleep. It goes off with a gentle chime that wakes you at your peak awakeness cycle. Better sleep, sharper mind, better mood, and greater self-confidence.

    7. Volunteer and give back

I used to volunteer at the Den for Grieving Kids in Greenwich, Connecticut. September 11th happened. My fellow volunteers became my support network.

I thought I was giving. I thought I was sacrificing. All the love I cold conjure couldn’t match the love I felt from that group in the weeks and months after 9/11. Who knows, you may heal someone, and you may heal your own soul.

    8. Socialize

This can be a difficult one for introverts. Socializing, or finding your tribe, doesn’t always have to happen in person. Joining an online community of like-minded people can enhance your self-worth.

Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs includes belongingness among the essentials. Contributing on Quora or posting compelling content to your network on LinkedIn can create a real sense of belonging. Similarly, building community via your Twitter account can also stimulate this powerful feeling.

    9. Get curious

Seek people who are more experienced than you. Learning from them will instill a powerful calm of knowing. Chances are, the lessons they share will be invaluable.

Most “overnight success” stories have experienced the trials and tribulations that you may also be experiencing. They have all survived and may be able to help you.

  • 10 Reasons Why Women Are Far Better Than Men

    10. Women “grow” other human beings inside them

Women have the capability to grow an entire new person inside them. Men on the other hand make sperms that look like tadpoles and don’t even know which way to go until they accidentally budge into an egg inside the female’s body. That is all the role they play while a woman carries a “moving”, “kicking”, “grown” baby inside her!

    9. They can tolerate pain

Like having a baby push through yourself is not enough once, they do it again and yet again. Women have a greater tolerance for pain as they would go on doing all their chores for the whole nine months. Men on the other hand would hide under the sheets if they have flu.

    8. Multi tasking

Women can reply to emails on the smartphones, cook, watch over the baby and listen to TV news at the same time. Men? hahaha! See also Best Jobs for Women.

    7. Female brain has better healing ability

Let’s say if both a man and woman met an accident at the same time, a woman would be up doing her daily tasks even before the man opens his eyes. That is because a female’s neurons are interlinked while the brain of a man is compartmentalized.

    6. Communication experts

Women can talk to anyone, anywhere. They know how to socialize with the bus driver, the teacher of their kids, the cleaner, the salesperson or anyone sitting with them in the bus. Advances in human life are because of communication and we owe that to women.

    5. Women get things done

If men don’t find anything interesting, they will not do it. Likewise, they will not do anything again if they aren’t encouraged and appreciated the first time- even if it is something like washing dishes. Women on the other hand will get things done when they have to.

    4. Women have super powers that get things done

The utility boy will leave the power on, the policeman will let the woman off without charging a ticket and she will get her way around any problem. This super power is tears!

    3. Detail oriented

Women can categorize things like task lists, birthdays, shopping lists, assignments and whole calendars in their brains while remembering smaller details like what their boyfriend likes for dinners and other basic facts. That is downright impossible for men.

    2. Women live longer

Women are stronger than men when it comes to nerves which is probably why they live on average, a year longer than men. Women are also better decision makers regarding their diet, duties and health check ups.

    1. Psychic powers

Not only can women tell why their baby is crying, they can also be absolutely sure if theirhusband is cheating or their friend is having a problem. She will already have figured you out so there is no point lying about it. A woman has strong intuition.

  • 10 Great Hacks to make you sleep better

Sleep is important to your success. This is why it becomes amusing to know that many are not getting as much sleep as they need. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the U.S., 40 million people suffer from chronic long term sleep disorders annually. It seems people are struggling to find sleep. To address such an issue here are some hacks that can prove useful.

    1. Improve your breathing

What is popularly known as the The 4-7-8 Breathing Exercise, has been proven to promote better sleep. What this breathing exercise does for you is to regulate your breath.

What this sleep hack does is silence your mind and eases it from distracting thoughts.

    2. Take a warm bath before sleeping

A bath helps to cool your body temperature and embrace sleep. Once you come out from a bath a message is sent to your brain that you are ready for sleep. Although scientists cannot explain this phenomenon it appears, that having such a bath mimics our body temperature.

    3. Keep your feet outside your blanket

You can sleep faster if you keep one or both feet outside of your blanket. Since our biological rhythms and temperatures fluctuate throughout the day, this hack seems ideal because when your body temperature starts to drop before you fall asleep, a cooler temperature will also help it induce sleepiness. The feeling you get from having your feet outside your blanket and embracing cooler temperature is similar to having a warm bath before you go to bed.

    4. Avoid bright light before sleeping

Blue light from TVs, smartphones and computers can suppress the production of melatonin in the body. What may be stopping you from getting that sleep you need may be the screens you are staring at. You could try and dim the lights from your screens or wear amber tinted glasses to reduce the effects of such light.

    5. Eat a decent meal of small, carb-filled supper before bed

Eating a small portion of food that is rich in carbohydrates can induce a good night sleep according to research. So try some bowl of cereal or a slice of toast before you go to bed.

    6. Improve the darkness in your room

Light ticks the brain that it is time to be active and get things done. However the opposite becomes the case when light is reduced in the room. Your bedroom should not have any lights on whether from a TV or any electronic device if you want to get some sleep.

    7. Improve the smell in your room

According to an article by Wall Street Journal sprinkling lavender oil on bedclothes could lull you to sleep. According to researchers at the University of Miami School of Medicine, the aroma in lavender has been shown to slow down heart rate, slow blood pressure and put you in a parasympathetic state, which is a relaxed state.

    8. Have a List

Listing your problems and penning down possible solutions for them could help you get the problem out of your head and focus on sleep. According to a study, this action makes you more relaxed for bed.

    9. Use the 90 minute Rule

Our brains completes several 90 minute cycles through different stages. So if you want to know the ideal time for sleeping take several counts of 90 minutes backwards to the ideal and appropriate time to sleep. For example waking up at 7 am should mean that you sleep around 10pm or 11:30 pm.

    10. Avoid smoking before bedtime

Many smokers believe smoking keeps them relaxed. However since nicotine is a stimulant this may not be the best method to get sleep. Just like coffee you should expect to wake up several times throughout the night.
